hobbit
A race of creatures from J. R. R. Tolkien's legendarium, beginning with The Hobbit. They appear much like a human, only far shorter (107 cm on average) and with large furry feet.
While hobbits are also referred to in the legendarium as halflings, that tag should only be used to refer to fantasy races by this appellation from other sources.
