Mitsubishi Group is a major Japanese conglomerate company, currently the largest company in Japan.
Mitsubishi's history can be traced back to the Meiji era, where they were one of the first heavy industry company in Japan. The company became a major zaibatsu company (Japanese word for major family-run business that held a large stake of the country's economy) during late 1900s, producing wide array of products. Ranging from pencil to warships.
Mitsubishi were split up in 1946, following World War II as a part of anti-trust policy by the occupying United States. They would later regrouped in 1950s, though each associated companies is largely independent from the main branch.
