When a character holds one or both of their arms up with their hands curled, imitating a cat's or dog's paws.
The difference between the paw pose and the claw pose is that in the paw pose the hands are closed in loose fists, while in the claw pose the hands are open with the fingers are bent like claws.
The onomatopoeia nyan (にゃん) is often written beside the character, in imitation of a cat's meow.
